2D Poke-Portraits & Squirtle Battle Animation changes

This week I had to go back into squirtle animations and nerf his movement a bit so it wasn't so extreme during battles. I had to do this because we have a limited battle space.

I also completed two of the last pokemon portraits for our credit sequence!

I'm working on a series of 6 illustrations to decorate the walls in our VR experience so we don't have blank walls! This is the first, a work in progress, of Officer Jenny!

This week I focused on 2D, making sure all the "look and feel" tasks for the game were ready.

Common Art Priest Proxy and Obj Concept

This week I was originally waiting on storyboard concepts so I could paint them, but instead was redirected into sculpting and subsequently generating a proxy of the priest for the game presentation. I did still generate and render a concept for our stained glass assets. Included a video demonstrating the current state of the project.

Common Art Environment Paint & VR Test

This week I painted the interior of the church, before and after the ritual. I used some screenshots from our proxy level to inform placement and layout, and painted over the proxies with texture, lighting, and most importantly: blood and tentacles! I included the video our team did testing the VR.

Common Art VR Photobash Update and Iconography

This week I redid some of my environment concepts, and changed them to be more in line with our narrowed scope. I also looked at the iconography we would be using.

Arcade Cabinet Textures

This week I put the final touches on my arcade cabinet model. It was a pain to paint every single panel, but its absolutely worth it!

Perspective Scene - Common Art

This week I did a lot of things, using assets I made and assets from sketchfab to complete the scene. I had a lot of fun setting up the 3D scene and then painting it over as a reference. I've included my sculpt, the reference, and the painting.

Composition & Illustration

This week we were given two directives: emulate an artist and choose a composition for an illustration. I chose to emulate was Eyvind Earle. I included one of the paintings that inspired me. I was most inspired by their lighting techniques and their use of contrast. I chose the L shape composition to use for this illustration.

2D Color Study & Use of Basic Lighting

This week we were tasked with looking at 3-point lighting and then rendering it ourselves. The top is my reference, the bottom is my painting!

Week 02 - Use of Silhouettes and Thumbnails

For this assignment I chose to use the character Jack from Jack and the Beanstalk.

For design, I asked myself "what would a medieval style look like in the future?" and "what could a farm boy look like in the future?". Using these types of internal questions, these are what I came up with! I thought about what styles are so simple and useful they would prevail over the times, like hats to keep sun away. I also thought about new technology that might exist, and what that could look like in an agricultural setting. Perhaps, if Jack were working in the fields, he'd need a signal booster away from "the grid".

This was a really fun assignment, and I'm happy with the results. My favorites are the last few!

Concepts - Week 1 Basic Shapes

These are my concepts, I had a lot of fun with the triangular shape!

The circular one is a big, fluffy duck creature with mouths in its stomach. I also made a stone guy, who seams chill but will crush you, and a Goat-Dragon! The Goat dragon has massive horns that you'd think would prevent it from quick movement, but don't be fooled, it can climb mountains with the agility of a mountain goat.
